Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Testing
Our primary care physicians (and many specialty practices) offer confidential testing for a wide variety of sexually transmitted diseases and infections such as HIV/AIDS, chlamydia, syphilis, hepatitis, genital herpes, gonorrhea, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), trichomoniasis – and more recently, the Zika virus. Depending on your individual risk factors, your physician can recommend which tests you need to have and how often you should have them. Testing may be done via blood or urine samples, oral or genital swab, tissue culture or Pap smear. Talk to your doctor about which tests make sense for you to have – and remember that you can contract a sexually transmitted infection from someone who appears to be totally healthy. STD testing is a wise preventive measure that you can request at any time.
