Strep Throat
Strep throat is a bacterial infection that is characterized by a mild to severely sore throat as well as painful swallowing, fever, swollen and tender lymph nodes and redness or pustules in the back of the throat. This condition can be quickly resolved with antibiotic medication prescribed by your doctor, and prompt diagnosis and treatment can help avoid potentially serious complications. It is easily diagnosed with a rapid antigen test, where a simple throat swab is taken and results are available in just a few minutes, or via a throat culture where a throat swab is sent to the lab for analysis and may take one or two days to yield results.
