Pillar Procedure for Sleep Apnea
The Pillar Procedure® is a minimally invasive and relatively new surgical treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. It involves placing three specially designed implants into the soft palate in order to stiffen the tissue in that area so that it can’t obstruct the airway. The procedure is often combined with one or more additional sleep apnea surgeries, but by itself can be performed in one short office visit. Patients benefit from this form of treatment because of its lasting results and its ability to minimize damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
