AdventHealth Expands Primary Care Choices with the Addition of New Physician Assistant in Black Mountain

April 25, 2024; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Emma Wagner, PA-S to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Black Mountain*. Wagner will be serving alongside the other primary care providers to fulfill the promise of providing exceptional, whole-person care to the community in and around Black Mountain

Wagner earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Society from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. She then earned her master's in physician assistant studies from Wingate University Physician Assistant Program in Hendersonville, NC.

The health care industry became a calling on Wagner’s life at an early age. Her grandmother was a labor and delivery nurse and inspired Wagner to make caring for patients her life’s work. Her grandmother supported Wagner as she started her career in health care and gifted Wagner her personal anatomy book from nursing school.

Wagner is passionate about preventive medicine and regular screenings for her patients. Her philosophy for patient care is to make sure her patients feel heard and supported. You can see that philosophy take shape as Wagner builds relationships with her patients and encourages shared decision-making. She says this helps patients feel confident in their personal care plan.

“I value patient advocacy and education,” Wagner shares. “My goal as a provider is to give patients the tools to feel comfortable with shared decision-making. I also want to create an environment in which patients feel comfortable asking me questions and voicing their concerns.”

“AdventHealth has been listening closely to the concerns of people in our community, particularly around the challenges to finding primary care providers,” explains Christy Sneller, MBA, Vice-President of Physician Services for AdventHealth Hendersonville. “We are excited to introduce you to Emma. She is a wonderful addition to our team and brings a vital new choice for people looking for primary care here in the mountains.”

Wagner is excited to be joining the team at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine in Black Mountain. She was drawn to AdventHealth because of their shared values and mission and the opportunity to provide whole-person care.

“I try to help patients feel whole by doing my best to make them feel like their concerns have been heard and that they have someone who supports them” Wagner says. “I believe that establishing a good rapport prior to delivering care of any kind is important, and I’m grateful to have this opportunity to practice medicine in our community.”

Wagner moved to the area three years ago for school. She and her family have always enjoyed an active lifestyle. Some of her hobbies include hiking, biking, learning golf, and most recently reading her way through classic novels.
