- Visitor Policy
-
We know that family and friends can help speed your recovery. We ask that, for the health and safety of all our patients, physicians and visitors, you review the following details about our visitor policy.
Ask about visitor restrictions.
During cold and flu season, we often limit visitors to help keep patients healthy. Your loved one’s nurse or physician will review any upcoming changes to our visitor policy, which may include limiting visitors from family under the age of 12 and staying home when feeling ill.
Do not sit on patient beds — even unoccupied beds — or handle equipment.
Pay attention to special patient precautions.
Talk to a nurse before entering a room with posted “Isolation Precautions.” You may need to wear a mask or other protective clothing.
Sanitize your hands.
Clean your hands before and after visiting to avoid bringing in and carrying out germs; after sneezing; coughing; touching your eyes, nose, or mouth; after using the restroom; and before and after eating and drinking. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve.
Stay home if you’re sick.
Please don’t visit if you’re sick or have had ill symptoms within the last three days, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever (or feeling feverish), uncontrolled cough or rash. Make sure children are free from symptoms of infection (e.g., runny nose, sore throat, rash, cough, etc.).
Visiting hours are from 6 am to 8 pm.
AdventHealth Ottawa recognizes the need for visiting hours and will make a reasonable effort to provide twenty-four (24) hours per day access to patients. For the rest and privacy of all patients, the switchboard will announce that general visiting hours are over at 8 pm. Any visitors arriving before 6 am or after 8 pm must check in through the emergency department entrance. Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
