About 3D Mammography

What is 3D?

Digital 3D mammography screenings are the new standard of care for the early detection of breast cancer in women. Using 3D mammography makes it easier for doctors to catch breast cancer early and it also helps catch more cancers. It helps us see the cancer size much better than we could on a regular mammogram. It reduces the chances of doctors seeing a false positive.

Approved by the FDA in 2011, 3D mammography allows your radiologist to view your breasts in one-millimeter thick slices, taking multiple breast images in just seconds. A computer then produces a 3D image of your breast tissue in one-millimeter layers, which allows your radiologist to provide a more accurate assessment.

Studied for more than a decade in hundreds of thousands of women, 3D screening mammography has been shown to increase breast cancer detection rates by 40- 60%, while reducing call-backs for additional testing by 40%.
On the AdventHealth Mobile Mammography coach, you can feel confident that you’re receiving the highest-quality mammogram experience using the latest technology available.

Who can get a 3D mammogram?

A 3D mammogram is approved for all women who would be undergoing a standard screening mammogram. Most insurance carriers pay 100% of your 3D screening mammogram, once per calendar year. Please check with your insurance provider for benefit eligibility.
