KISSIMMEE, Fla., — AdventHealth has broken ground on an ER that will bring a much-needed option for emergency care to residents of fast-growing Poinciana and surrounding areas of Osceola and Polk counties.
The approximately 15,000-square-foot emergency room, located off Pleasant Hill Road at Merry D Lane, will have 16 patient rooms; respiratory therapy; diagnostic imaging, including CT scans, X-ray and ultrasound; and an on-site full-service laboratory and pharmacy.
"While AdventHealth has been caring for residents of Osceola and Polk counties for many years, we are excited to bring whole-person emergency care to Poinciana for the first time,” said AdventHealth Kissimmee CEO Sheila Rankin, who will also oversee the Poinciana ER. “We believe everyone deserves a choice in where they receive their care, and we are glad to be providing access to convenient, high-quality care close to home for this community.”
The ER is staffed by a comprehensive clinical team including board-certified emergency physicians and emergency nurses.
“As an emergency physician, I know that seconds can count when you need medical help,” said Dr. Ketan Pandya, emergency department medical director for AdventHealth Kissimmee. “Making our services more easily accessible will be a great benefit for the residents of Poinciana.”
The ER will bring 65 jobs to the community in a range of clinical and support roles.
HuntonBrady is the architect on the project, and Batson-Cook is the general contractor. The AdventHealth Poinciana ER is slated to open in the third quarter of 2025.
