Meet Joselyn Lopez, who coordinates and makes possible every donation, special event and visit to AdventHealth for Children in Orlando.
Working closely with the hospital’s beloved Child Life Specialists, Joselyn brings much-needed fun and surprises to the hospital's youngest patients – whether that’s through toy donations, decorations to brighten up their rooms or special visits with beloved Disney friends, Star Wars celebs, therapy pups, Orlando Magic players, firefighters and most recently the Brazilian National Soccer team.
Joselyn’s commitment to bringing smiles to children is deeply personal. At 22, she was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer that only affects about 9,000 people in the U.S. every year. She’s had to face blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies and long hospital stays, but with ongoing chemotherapy medication and regular visits to AdventHealth, she manages her cancer with strength and resilience.
For Joselyn, bringing joy to children at the hospital and being able to relate to what they’re going through is so much more than a job – it’s a calling. She says, “My purpose is happening right now.”
