You’re Making a Difference!

With your help, Operation Sunshine will do whatever it takes to provide healthcare to children in Haitian orphanages. Operation Sunshine is a program of AdventHealth Global Mission Initiatives (GMI).

Your support of our work is very much appreciated. It helps us change the lives of children in desperate need of medical care – including children like Gil. Gil is an eight-year-old with an eye problem from an orphanage in Haiti. Through Haiti Adventist Hospital, he received eye surgery that returned his vision to 20/20. Without Operation Sunshine, Gil’s poor vision would have delayed his development and his performance in school. Read more about Operation Sunshine.

A Reason to Smile

Demand for child healthcare in Haitian orphanages participating in Operation Sunshine increased almost 50 percent between 2016 and 2017.

We turned to you for help and it’s an honor to report that your support gave us a reason to smile. Here’s why:

Increase in Number of Children Served

Operation Sunshine increased the number of children who received healthcare from 400 in 2016 to 750 in 2017. During 2016, care was arranged at Haiti Adventist Hospital for 110 sick children from a network of orphanages throughout Haiti.

Increase in Number of Orphanages Served

Operation Sunshine increased the number of orphanages served from five to 10 between 2016 and 2017.

A Little Fish With Big Impact

Luck Iron Fish is a little cast iron cooking fish that reduces iron deficiency and provides children in countries like Haiti with 90 percent of their daily iron intake to prevent anemia. It’s safe and can be placed in any liquid or broth meal to enrich the liquid with iron.
