Maureen Boyd’s experience with AdventHealth Hospice Care began when her father and stepmother’s health began to decline. Normally, her father was the primary care provider for her stepmother, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Since Maureen was the closest family member, she traveled to be with them. During her visit, she struggled with finding assistance from many agencies including elderly affairs. Luckily, she met a representative from AdventHealth Hospice Care. She shared her story and the uncertainties of receiving assistance for both her father and stepmother.

“I knew I was connected to a community of caring, knowledgeable, understanding and committed individuals dedicated to caring for others during very stressful and emotional times,” Maureen said. The Hospice Team gave her strength and support to make difficult decisions with compassion and respect.

Her father was eventually transitioned to a Hospice facility while her stepmother was transitioned to a nursing home. Her father was provided great care and showed immense improvement, which allowed him to be released from the Hospice facility in six months’ time. He returned home where he lived under Hospice care for an additional year.

“My time with AdventHealth Hospice Care has had a profound impact on family”, Maureen shared, “because of their love, support, assistance and guidance.”
