For the third consecutive year, AdventHealth Daytona Beach has earned the prestigious five-star rating in clinical quality from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating a hospital can attain.
Out of the thousands of U.S. hospitals surveyed, AdventHealth Daytona Beach is 1 of 483 hospitals nationwide to be awarded the five-star rating from CMS through their Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, Becker’s Hospital Review reports.
“This CMS rating is a reflection of the excellent care we provide to our community, and we are honored to be recognized once again as a five-star facility,” said David Weis, president and CEO of AdventHealth Daytona Beach. “Achieving this requires a serious team-based effort and I am proud of our team of expert clinicians for helping our hospital continue our legacy for providing the best care and quality to the community.”
CMS evaluates performance in key areas including mortality, safety, readmission, and patient experience.
The 2023 rating is based on data from July 2018 through Dec. 2021, a period that includes the height of the pandemic.
While CMS is one of several tools hospitals use to measure performance, this ranking system was created to help consumers make more informed decisions about their care by easily comparing hospitals.
AdventHealth Daytona Beach has also recently received numerous additional accolades and national recognition for clinical excellence, including:
- One the few hospitals in the nation – and the only in Florida – to receive 23 consecutive “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades for patient safety.
- Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center certification for its interventional neuroradiology (INR)/Stroke program.
- Superior patient outcomes in coronary intervention procedures, including angioplasty with a stent, by Healthgrades.
