DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., December 10, 2018 – AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center has selected David Weis to serve as chief operating officer (COO).
Weis most recently served as vice president of operations and chief operating officer for Adventist Health Ukiah Valley in Northern California, providing oversight of operations in the ambulatory and acute care areas of a 68-bed regional medical center with more than 800 employees.
During his tenure, he developed a $172 million master plan to rebuild the medical center in its current location while maintaining all patient care operations. He also oversaw the opening of a $56 million emergency department and intensive care unit, as well as the opening of a 10,700 square foot outpatient rehabilitation center. He also led the organizational excellence team, establishing high reliability practices across the care continuum. Weis is passionate about leadership development and created and launched two leadership development programs to grow front line leaders to their fullest potential.
He began his career as a physical therapist at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley. During his nine years with the organization, he became the operations manager of rehabilitation services, was promoted to director of perioperative services, and then became the assistant vice president of operations before being promoted to vice president of operations and COO.
Weis earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas. He went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University in California. He also earned a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.
He is a licensed physical therapist and certified GE Master Change Agent, which utilizes a robust framework to manage organizational change most effectively. He is also an affiliate of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
