ORANGE CITY, Fla., February 7, 2017 On Jan. 26, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial donated nearly $6,000 worth of clinic supplies to 23 schools in west Volusia County.
The donation provided a wide variety of supplies to local elementary, middle and high schools, including thermometers, bandages, tongue depressors and hand sanitizer.
We are very grateful for this donation, said Annette Hood, Volusia County Schools volunteer/partnership programs facilitator. These supplies will help our school nurses provide the best care to our students so that they can stay healthy and academically focused.
Florida Hospital Fish Memorial began this annual clinic supply donation in 1998 as part of their goal to keep kids healthy. Over the past 20 years, the number of schools has increased from 17 to 23, growing the hospitals relationship with the community.
Kids shouldn't have to worry about being sick in school, said Rob Deininger, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial CEO. When kids are healthy, they can be more active and engaged in the classroom. We hope that by continuing this donation, we can make a positive impact on the lives of students.
