ORANGE CITY, Fla., June 8, 2017 On May 31, nearly 250 community members joined Florida Hospital Fish Memorial for a grand opening celebration of the newly completed center for Wellness and Rehab Care.
We have been planning this for quite some time and are so excited to finally be able to share this with the community, said Danielle Johnson, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial chief operating officer.
During the celebration, guests toured the new center, as well as enjoyed entertainment and refreshments.
Located inside the Volusia Medical Center on the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial campus, the Wellness and Rehab Care center is a colorful 7,700-square-foot facility, designed to provide rehabilitation services for patients diagnosed with heart or lung diseases, as well as patients needing physical, occupational, or speech therapy.
The new Wellness and Rehab Care area is so much larger than our old Wellness and Rehab departments, Johnson said. By consolidating these two departments into one large, colorful, comprehensive space, we can care for more patients each day, in a more comfortable and spacious environment, and offer new and exciting therapies that we weren't able to before.
The new space features a full kitchen and bathroom, which helps patients relearn and practice activities of daily living and self-care activities with a therapist.
In addition, the hospitals community garden is located adjacent to the Volusia Medical Center and will give occupational therapy patients the opportunity to practice fine motor skills related to gardening.
