— AdventHealth Announces New Director of Medical Surgical Nursing at its Hospital in Henderson County
Jan 12, 2024; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to announce Larissa Bright, RN, BSN has been named Director of Medical Surgical Nursing at AdventHealth Hendersonville. Bright has been a valuable member of the Medical Surgical Department at AdventHealth Hendersonville for more than four years, and most recently served as the Nurse Manager for our Medical Surgical inpatient unit. She is passionate about extending the healing ministry of Christ and feels called to serve others through providing whole-person care.
Bright earned bachelor’s degrees in both Nursing and International Studies and Spanish from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. She has extensive experience working and caring for patients on medical surgical and progressive care units. She prioritizes making her patients and team members feel safe, loved and known. She goes above and beyond to serve others around her.
“I am called to serve others,” Bright explains. “I love that being a nurse gives me the opportunity to be a small part in a patient's healing story. It’s not something I take for granted.”
Bright was inspired to seek a career at AdventHealth after having her first child at The Baby Place at AdventHealth Hendersonville. “The joy the team members possessed was contagious,” Bright remembers. “From housekeeping to the nurses to the dietary team, these people loved where they worked. This was so encouraging to witness, and I just knew I wanted to be a part of it.”
AdventHealth has supported Bright’s growth through its Team Member Promises, specifically the Lighted Career Path that has allowed her to expand her leadership roles through the years. She first worked as a floor nurse in the medical surgical unit, and then continued to fill the roles of Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, and now Director of the Medical Surgical Nursing at AdventHealth Hendersonville.
“Larissa is not only an incredibly compassionate nurse, but she is also a servant leader to her nursing team,” explains Maureen Dzialo, MS, RN, Chief Nursing Officer for AdventHealth Hendersonville. “Larissa connects with her nursing team where they are and listens to what they need to care for our patients. She also builds on the relationship with her team, so they know they have a trusted leader who is advocating for them and helping them achieve their nursing career goals.”
Bright is excited to serve her team in this new role at AdventHealth Hendersonville. As the Director of Medical Surgical Nursing, she will continue to support the staff and use her growth and leadership skills to serve the patients and community. “We are a team here at AdventHealth who prioritizes compassionate and honest care,” Bright says. “AdventHealth is where I would bring my family. It matters most that the patients, who trust my teammates and me with their care, experience the healing ministry of Christ.”
Bright and her husband live in Hendersonville with their two children. She and her family enjoy hiking, tent camping, and walking golf courses. To keep herself feeling whole, she makes it a priority to spend time in prayer and listening to worship music.
