N.C., AdventHealth Cancer Services Renews Prestigious Breast Cancer Care Accreditation for Exceptional Patient Care

Apr. 6, 2023; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is celebrating the Cancer Services teams at its centers across Western North Carolina for earning and maintaining national accreditation for breast cancer care.

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has granted accredited status to AdventHealth Hendersonville’s Cancer Services.

The NAPBC accreditation is a voluntary accreditation program. “Every three years, our incredible Cancer Services team, including our oncologists, breast surgeons, and breast health nurse navigator take on this nationally recognized review to demonstrate our compliance with the NAPBC standards,” explains Lisa Gundersen, MSN, RN, OCN, Director of Cancer Services for AdventHealth Hendersonville.

The NAPBC accreditation standards address a center’s leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement for patients.

As a NAPBC-accredited center, AdventHealth Hendersonville Cancer Services is committed to maintaining levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care resulting in high-quality care for patients with breast disease. Patients can be confident that their breast care team includes health care professionals from a variety of disciplines who are committed to working together to provide the best care available through their entire course of treatment.

Patients receiving care through AdventHealth’s NAPBC-accredited Cancer Services also have access to information on clinical trials and new treatment options, genetic counseling, and patient-centered services including psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and survivorship care.

The NAPBC only grants accreditation to those programs that are committed to providing the best possible care to patients with breast cancer.
