Oct. 20, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – Making memories in our homes so often centers around the kitchen. That is one of the reasons finding ways to stay in our homes as we grow older is a priority for many adults. AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to continue its 2021 Age-Friendly Event Series, Making Your Home Work For You with the special webinar focusing on kitchens.

AdventHealth Hendersonville has been granted Age-Friendly Health System Initiative Participant and Committed to Care Excellence designations from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. As part of this commitment, it is partnering with Richard Duncan, Executive Director of the RL Mace Universal Design Institute (UDI) for this informative virtual session on Age-Friendly home features.

During this FREE Zoom event, Duncan will share tips on how to make your home work for you at every age and stage of life. In this webinar he will go over problem areas in kitchens such as difficult storage, work surfaces, appliance selection, flooring, lighting, and easy-to-use hardware. In addition, Duncan will touch on the laundry area, home technology, and how to find experienced professionals to help with your home improvement project.

The UDI promotes the concept and practice of accessible and universal design for everyone regardless of age, ability or circumstance.
