AdventHealth Hendersonville Celebrates New DAISY Winner

N.C., August 28, 2019 — Hendersonville, N.C. (August 28, 2019) – AdventHealth Hendersonville invites the community to join us in congratulating our newest winner of the DAISY Award, Laura Chambers, RN, BSN, CWOCN, CFCN. Laura is part of the care team at AdventHealth Medical Group Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Medical Office Building*. Her clinical skill and dedication to compassionate patient care are consistently noticed by her co-workers and the patients she cares for every day.

Laura was nominated for the DAISY Award because of her commitment to whole-person care for every patient, every time. Here is just a portion of the letter from Laura’s manager, nominating her because of the extra efforts she took to make a potentially life-saving difference in the care of a patient:

“During a call with a patient who stated she could not make her appointment, Laura noted changes in the patient’s presentation. After talking with the patient Laura came to me and stated she was concerned about the patient and planned a welfare check for the patient’s safety with the local police department. The police department arrived at the patient’s house to find this patient in need of help and the police had her transported to AdventHealth ER. Due to Laura listening well to her patient, the patient and her family are now living in a safer environment. . . As providers of care, we do need to continue to be aware of the support systems our patients have, as Laura does every day. This is one of many times Laura reached beyond the obvious to help as she provides complete care.”

AdventHealth is excited to have partnered with The DAISY Foundation to honor nurses, like Laura, who go above and beyond their daily tasks to make extraordinary differences in the lives of our patients and their families.

The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to thank the nurses who cared for Patrick and for them as he battled an autoimmune disease. Patrick lost his battle, but his family realized the impact his nurses had on the final days of his life. For that they are forever grateful. They wanted to create an opportunity for all families who experience the benefits of the extraordinary care of nurses to show their appreciation.
