N.C., August 12, 2019 — AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation Receives Grant for CortoFlex Camera for SANE Program

Hendersonville, NC (August 12, 2019) — AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation has been awarded a $15,468 grant from the Perry N. Rudnick Fund that is administered by the Community Foundation of Henderson County. This grant will fund the cost of the hands-free CortoFlex Camera needed for its Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program that will help protect victim data in cases of sexual assault.

The $15,468 grant will allow sexual assault nurse examiners (SANEs) in the AdventHealth Emergency Department to collect forensic evidence in the most compassionate and efficient manner, making it possible for victims to pursue criminal charges. Last year, AdventHealth Hendersonville helped organize the Henderson County Sexual Assault Response Team and in doing so recognized that a group effort would be required to advance police processing of assault cases and to improve the response of healthcare professionals to victims of sexual assaults. This project will further the progress of the collaborative, enhancing the organization’s response to victims of sexual assault, and helping to prevent further assaults. All of the AdventHealth Hendersonville SANE nurses have completed training on the camera and there are preparations for three more nurses to go through SANE training in the near future.
