N.C., — AdventHealth Hendersonville Hosts Free Age-Friendly Series Event: Safe Entrances and Flooring
May 5, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – Staying in our homes as we grow older is a priority for many adults. Because this is what matters to so many older adults, AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to announce the second webinar in its 2021 Age-Friendly Event Series, Making Your Home Work For You: Safe Entrances and Flooring.
AdventHealth Hendersonville has been granted Age-Friendly Health System Initiative Participant and Committed to Care Excellence designations from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. As part of this commitment, it is partnering with Richard Duncan, Executive Director of the RL Mace Universal Design Institute (UDI) for this informative virtual session on Age-Friendly home features.
During this FREE Zoom event, Duncan will share tips on how to identify dangerous entrances and flooring situations in your home. He will also share solutions with ideas for improving dangerous walkways, along with, a selection of the best doors, key elements of safe stairs and which flooring choices are best to help make your home as safe as possible at any age.
The UDI promotes the concept and practice of accessible and universal design for everyone regardless of age, ability or circumstance.
