N.C., — AdventHealth Hendersonville Imaging Earns Renewed Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Accreditation
Dec. 8, 2020; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville Imaging has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Stereotactic breast biopsies are often used after a mammogram shows changes in breast tissue. It is a low-risk and minimally invasive test that uses a special mammography machine to guide the radiologist’s instruments to the location of the abnormal growth. The removed cells are then examined under a microscope for diagnosis.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs and report their findings to the ACR Committee on Accreditation.
“Our imaging team knows the importance of getting answers for the people who are coming to us for diagnosis. That is why they make sure our Stereotactic Breast Biopsy services meet the highest quality and safety standards for every patient, every time,” said AdventHealth Hendersonville Director of Imaging, Todd Guffey.
