AdventHealth Hendersonville Lunch and Learn Series: How do you Starve Cancer

Just like other cells, cancer cells are affected by the food we put into our bodies. Approximately 30 to 40% of cancer cases doctors diagnose in patients could have been prevented by modest diet and lifestyle changes. According to the National Foundation for Cancer Research in2017 alone, 675,512 cancer diagnoses could have been avoided!

On February 8, AdventHealth Hendersonville invites the community to learn about the effects of diet on cancer from Vel Matthews-Smith, MD, Medical Director of our Cancer Services program. Join her to discover how diet can help defeat cancer and learn the best ways to choose foods that can reduce your risk of disease. Dr. Vel is a Board-certified Medical Oncologist with an extensive career history in both direct patient care and cancer research. Her services are provided through a collaborative care relationship with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
