N.C., AdventHealth Hendersonville Welcomes Endocrinologist to

Network of Providers

August 20, 2020; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville continues to focus on providing care that meets the growing and changing needs of the community with the addition of board-certified, fellowship-trained endocrinologist Noriecel Mendoza, MD. She is caring for patients at AdventHealth Medical Group Endocrinology at Hendersonville*, located at 81 Doctors Drive, Hendersonville.

Dr. Mendoza has been a medical doctor since 1998 and offers expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and health conditions related to hormone imbalances and metabolic disorders. She has special interest in osteoporosis and parathyroid disorders.

Dr. Mendoza has a unique experience of providing specialized medical care, not only in the United States, but also in her home country of the Philippines, where she has practiced for the past five years. Prior to that, she had an endocrinology clinic in Medford, Oregon for 9 years. When she found out about the opportunity to join the care team at AdventHealth, she says its faith-based, healing mission truly resonated with her.

“Treating patients as a whole person agrees with my principles in my practice of medicine,” Dr. Mendoza says. “I share the same goal [as AdventHealth] when treating patients. I spend time talking with my patients so I can get to know not just their medical condition, but also who they are - their values and beliefs and how they are living their lives. Knowing our patients as a whole person will help us find the tools to better help them on a more personalized basis. All of these lead to better patient outcomes.”

Fifteen years into practicing endocrinology, Dr. Mendoza says medicine originally drew her in because it provides a way to give back to the community and make a positive difference for many people.

“My mom was a doctor who was well-loved by our community in the Philippines,” she explains. “Even after she was long gone, people who knew her still talked about her compassion and love for her patients. She made a difference in a lot of people’s lives, and that’s how I would like to be remembered, too.”

Dr. Mendoza earned her medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines. She completed her residency and internship in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine - Jacobi Medical Center in New York and her fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center and Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

In her free time, Dr. Mendoza enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, hiking, traveling, listening to music and watching HGTV.
