N.C., AdventHealth Hendersonville’s New Director of Mission and Ministry Will Focus on Front-line Team’s Well-Being

Dec. 9, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Jocelyn Shaw, M.Div. as the Director of Mission and Ministry for AdventHealth Hendersonville. Shaw brings her experience of strategic leadership development and her many years in pastoral care to her new role at AdventHealth Hendersonville.

Shaw will begin her role with AdventHealth Hendersonville with a focus on finding ways to meet the mental and spiritual needs of the health care team as they continue to meet the added demands of the pandemic. “Taking care of our team is a vital part of our overall approach to provide whole-person care to our community. That promise involves meeting a patient’s needs – body, mind and spirit. We take that same approach to meeting the needs of our team,” said Brandon Nudd, AdventHealth Hendersonville President and Chief Executive Officer.

Shaw has a passion for working in the areas of health care and spirituality, and she strives to be a support to patients, families, and staff members every day. “If I learn to support my colleagues around me,” Shaw shares, “We all are able to give our best and provide the best whole-person care that will truly extend the Healing Ministry of Christ.”

Nudd adds, “I have had the opportunity to see Jocelyn helping people experience whole-person care through our mission as a chaplain. She brings compassion and support to patients, team members and, in her role as our Mission and Ministry Director, she will carry this care beyond our doors to our community through programs supporting the whole-person care needs of people across our region.”

Shaw is looking forward to leading the Mission and Ministry team at AdventHealth Hendersonville. “Working with a community hospital such as [AdventHealth] Hendersonville is exciting to me, as I enjoy getting to know the teams, patients and community on a deep level.” Shaw adds, “I cannot express the gratitude and excitement I feel as I know I will soon be blessed by many incredible people, [and I am] hoping to reciprocate those blessings as God weaves Himself through our stories.”

Shaw earned her bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Care from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN and her Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. She went on to serve as Senior Chaplain at AdventHealth for Children and then later as Foundations Manager in the Leadership Institute at AdventHealth, where she implemented Leadership Development to more than 6,000 leaders.

Jocelyn and her husband, Martin, are excited to make the mountains their new home with their two young sons. Some of her hobbies include spending time with family, especially playing with her two sons! She loves anything outdoors, participating in almost any sport (especially racquetball) and just having a great time with those around her.
