The season may be ending, but the need for blood donations remains high.

Sept. 9, 2022; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – We may be saying goodbye to summer, but the urgent need for blood isn’t going away. AdventHealth is teaming up with The Blood Connection to help make sure the supply is in place for the people coming to us for care every day.

According to The Blood Connection, only three percent of the population donates blood, but one in seven people who enter a hospital will need a blood transfusion. The supply simply doesn’t keep up with demand.

Our community can help change that. A recent donor from North Carolina puts it this way, “I feel like I’m taking one for the team… I feel in this world where there’s a lot of overwhelming problems, this is one thing I can do, and I love sharing it by letting people know, ‘this is what I do and perhaps you can do it, too.’”

Just one hour of your time at the AdventHealth Hendersonville Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, can help save not just one, but up to three lives.

To help make it easy for the public to donate, AdventHealth and The Blood Connection are following all safety protocols including requiring face coverings and social distancing. TBC will screen all donors for COVID-19 Antibodies after every completed donation.

The Blood Connection is a non-profit organization. A person can donate blood every 56 days. Donors must be 16 years or older and weigh more than 110 lbs. to donate. Sixteen-year-old donors are required to have written consent to donate blood. Before you donate blood, make sure that you drink plenty of water and eat a healthy meal. TBC Donor ID Card (preferred) or photo ID required to donate. Gift cards and other incentives are non-transferable.
