N.C., August 25, 2022 — AdventHealth Medical Group Welcomes New Nurse Practitioner to Hendersonville Office

Aug. 25, 2022; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Kathryn Cowan, MSN, FNP, RN, BSN to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Hendersonville. Cowan is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and will be assisting Thomas Lugus, MD in providing whole-person care to our community.

Cowan earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Troy University in Troy, AL. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL.

In the past, Cowan has worked as a registered nurse providing critical care nursing. She has worked in multiple care areas, including the Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, and the Medical Intensive Care Unit. “My background as an ICU nurse has taught me so much about the importance of whole-person care,” Cowan explains, “I value the experience I have had in the hospital setting, and plan to use that experience as I provide care in the outpatient setting.”

Cowan has a passion to provide high-quality care that is rooted in compassion. She was impressed with AdventHealth’s mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ. And that is exactly what she hopes to do for her patients. “I help patients to feel whole by thoughtfully listening to their concerns and working alongside them to create a care plan that is both evidence-based and wholistic.”

Cowan is excited to join the team at AdventHealth Hendersonville. “Something that I would like my patients to know is that I appreciate their willingness to trust me with their care,” Cowan says, “And I am looking forward to working in partnership with them to achieve their health goals.”

She and her husband, Nick, recently moved to the area and are enjoying exploring Western North Carolina. They love discovering new restaurants, exploring the outdoors, and walking new trails in the region.
