HENDERSONVILLE, NC, September 3, 2024 – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Lynnea Skiman, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, OCN to its team of providers at AdventHealth Cancer Services Asheville. Skiman is board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Oncology Certified Nurse. She is committed to providing individualized, compassionate, patient-centered care in Western North Carolina.

Skiman earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Western Carolina University in Sylva, NC. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.

She started her career in health care as an inpatient oncology nurse and instantly fell in love with the patients in cancer care. This love led her to pursue a career in oncology nursing. She now has more than 7 years of experience in oncology nursing including inpatient care, ambulatory outpatient infusion, and as an oncology nurse navigator.

Skiman is passionate about providing a safe, collaborative environment for patients and their families to feel whole. Her approach to patient care is meeting patients where they are and giving them resources and support in making their own informed decisions about their care. She respects her patients and their decisions, and is committed to providing individualized, patient-centered care, every time.

“I enjoy finding different approaches to help make treatment as tolerable as possible for patients,” Skiman shares. She adds that she deeply understands that an individual's experiences shape their responses to treatment, and by respecting those differences she is able to provide whole-person care to her patients and the community.

When she is not providing compassionate, whole-person cancer care to her patients, Skiman is caring for her eight hens, rooster, and bearded dragon, Khaleesi. Skiman lives in Leicester and enjoys being outside in her garden, taking care of her chickens, and listening to true crime podcasts.
