N.C., Certified Nurse Midwife Joins AdventHealth’s Growing Mother and Baby Care Team

Sep. 5, 2023; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Mollie Tolan, MSN, CNM, FNP-C to its team of Obstetrics and Gynecology providers at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at South Asheville. Tolan is board-certified as both a Nurse-Midwife and a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has more than 15 years of experience in inpatient, outpatient, and educational settings. She is committed to providing compassionate and quality care to women and their families in all stages of life.

Tolan earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in Nurse-Midwifery/Family Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, TN.

Tolan was inspired to get into the health care field from her grandparents who were medical professionals and veterans in World War II. She started her career in the trauma ICU, and it was during this time when she found her true passion of women’s health care.

“During my 6 years of work and travel for medical missions, I had the wonderful opportunity to listen to countless stories of resilient communities and people having survived trauma,” Tolan shares. “The ones that were most life-changing to me were the stories of women surviving their own trauma only to turn around and help other women. I knew after seeing this that I wanted to be part of the cycle of women helping women. I have found my life-calling in walking with and empowering other women as a midwife.”

For Tolan, the most important thing about her professional role is to establish a trusting and respectful relationship with each patient. She does that by listening to her patients' needs and providing compassionate, quality care. AdventHealth’s promise of whole-person care aligned with her values of providing wholistic, and individualized care.

“Every person brings a different set of concerns, fears, hesitation, feelings, and past experiences,” Tolan says. “This is what makes you – YOU! Your individual feelings and experiences are used to guide my care in a unique way. Everyone needs care a little differently. I individualize care safely, and with all of these aspects in mind.”

“We are excited to have Mollie join our Obstetrics and Gynecology team,” shares Christy Sneller, MBA, Vice President of Physician Services for AdventHealth Hendersonville. “Her commitment to whole-person care shines through her dedication to listen and understand what her patients want and need so she can help them feel whole through every step of their care.”

Tolan is looking forward to joining the team at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at South Asheville. “I am so excited to join a community that values holistic care,” she says. “Healing of the whole body is so important! AdventHealth Hendersonville stands out in their whole-person focus and I am excited to join a health care community that shares my values.”

In her free time Tolan enjoys spending quality time with her family. She and her husband have four kids, and the family likes to explore the outdoors, and go on adventures to new places. Her kids are passionate about soccer, and often, you can find her on the sidelines cheering them on.
