N.C., — Long-time Asheville OB-GYN Joins AdventHealth to Continue Whole-Person Approach to Women's Health Care
Jul 11, 2023; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Vicky Scott, DO, FACOG, ACLM, AIHM to its team of Gynecology providers at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at South Asheville. Dr. Scott is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is committed to providing whole-person care for women in every stage of life.
Dr. Scott earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington State University in Cheney, WA and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, MI. She went on to complete her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program from Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH.
Dr. Scott’s wholistic approach to patient care motivated her to continue on in her education. She became board-certified by both the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine, and also the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. “Physicians and other care providers enjoy a unique opportunity to be fully present with and attend to patients through periods of health, illness, loss, and joys,” Dr. Scott says, “It is important to me that as healers we strive to be mindful of the impact we have upon the lives around us.”
Dr. Scott has cared for women in Western North Carolina for more than 30 years and has a passion for wellness education. She strives to be a resource for her patients, providing individualized care and collaboration on their health care journey. AdventHealth’s promise of whole-person care – body, mind and spirit, aligns with her own philosophy of patient care that leads to empowering women in their personal health.
“When patients are provided with a non-judgmental atmosphere that recognizes the wholeness they already possess, they feel whole,” Dr. Scott shares, “This posture and attitude engender a natural awareness that health comprises a balance of body, mind and spirit and that when confronted with events like illness or tragedy that create imbalances, patients can trust that they will be cared for and that they will be provided with everything they need.”
“When we first met Dr. Scott we knew in an instant that she shared our commitment to care for every patient as a whole-person, developing relationships to help them feel whole,” shares Christy Sneller, MBA, Vice-President of Physician Services for AdventHealth Hendersonville. “We are excited to be able to provide Dr. Scott a new home where she can continue to care for the women she has seen over the years and welcome new patients who are looking for her compassionate commitment to their well-being.”
Dr. Scott is an avid hiker, and at almost 65 years old, recently backpacked the entire 211-mile John Muir Trail. She and her husband love living and hiking in the mountains of Western North Carolina. They have raised two daughters and enjoy spending time with family and traveling.
