Feb. 27, 2024; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to announce Valentino Piacentino III, MD, PhD, is now part of its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Surgery Specialists at Hendersonville.* Dr. Piacentino is board-certified in General Surgery and is passionate about providing high-quality, innovative surgical care to patients in Western North Carolina.

Dr. Piacentino specializes in a wide range of surgical procedures, such as laparoscopic small bowel and colon resections, minimally invasive hiatal hernia repairs and reflux procedures, abdominal wall hernia repairs, and many other specialized surgical procedures. Most recently, Dr. Piacentino served as a General and Vascular Surgeon at Mission Community Surgical Specialists and practiced at both the Mission Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC and the Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion, NC.

Dr. Piacentino earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Rutgers University in Camden, NJ and his Doctorate in molecular cardiology and his medical degree from Temple University of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He went on to complete his residency program at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT and his fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.
