N.C., New Physician Expands Options for Care at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine in Black Mountain

Apr. 26, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to welcome Evan Jones, MD to its team of whole-care providers at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Black Mountain. Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Jones considers it a privilege to be part of his patients’ journeys through life by making genuine connections. “I believe the only way to do this is to spend time sitting, talking, and cultivating a relationship and knowledge of the people under my care,” says Dr. Jones.

Dr. Jones was drawn to AdventHealth because it shares the same values he has regarding patient care. AdventHealth promises to help people feel whole by providing whole-person care – body, mind and spirit. “I think the concept of wholeness is very individualized,” says Dr. Jones. “We as humans have certain basic needs which must be met, but each of us have different preferences and desires in terms of what constitutes a fulfilling life. As a physician, my goal is to try to understand what these may be for the person sitting in front of me, and then provide them with the right tools and information to help them get there.”

Dr. Jones earned his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Georgia at Athens, GA. He completed his medical degree at Augusta University – University of Georgia Medical Partnership at Athens, GA.

During his time in college, he considered the path of pure research vs. practicing medicine. The decision became final after he shadowed a hospice service in the mountains of North Georgia. “I was struck by what we would consider the art of medicine, its human and relational aspect, and shortly afterwards applied for medical school admission.”

“Dr. Jones knows the value of truly connecting with each patient to care for them as a whole person,” said Christy Sneller, Vice President of Physician Services at AdventHealth Hendersonville. “He learned that skill during his time providing family medicine care to a rural community in Georgia. We are excited to have him now, offering that same level of compassionate care to the people choosing care at our Black Mountain office.”

Dr. Jones is married. He and his wife are expecting their first child this spring. They also have several furry family members – two dogs and two cats. “When not at work, you will likely find me somewhere in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park or Pisgah National Forest hiking or fly fishing. When not under the threat of a pandemic I also greatly enjoy traveling with my wife.”
