Children and Teens

Feb 15, 2024; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Sarah Kosten, PsyD to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Psychiatry at Medical Office Building*. Dr. Kosten is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and is providing psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological evaluations for children and adolescents.

Dr. Kosten earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the School of Psychological Sciences and doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN. She completed her Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics in Charleston, SC.

Dr. Kosten was drawn to AdventHealth and its commitment to providing whole-person care because it aligns well with her own personal philosophy of care.

“I am so impressed with AdventHealth’s dedication to whole-person health care,” Dr. Kosten shares. “So often, mental and emotional health can be overlooked in the medical model, but AdventHealth makes a concerted effort to bring these needs out of the shadows. Not only does this help improve patient outcomes, but it also reduces the stigma surrounding behavioral health treatment.”

“We are so happy to have Dr. Kosten joining AdventHealth and our work to meet the growing behavioral health needs of young people in our community,” shared Christy Sneller, MBA, Vice-President for Physician Services at AdventHealth Hendersonville. “Dr. Kosten offers a point of care for children and adolescents that allows them to feel safe and comfortable. She establishes a base of trust so they can find hope.”

Along with providing exceptional psychological care, Dr. Kosten takes an active interest in her patients. She believes in making every patient feel heard, seen and valued in their interactions. This commitment to personalized and compassionate care shows her passion for helping each patient feel whole.

“I try to give back to my patients as much as they give to me in sharing their most vulnerable experiences and feelings,” Dr. Kosten explains. “To help them feel whole, I work to build a relationship based upon trust, compassion, and acceptance of who they are.”

When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Kosten enjoys spending time with her family, going for walks and hikes in nature, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She also makes time to care for her personal whole health by practicing yoga daily, and spending as much time outside and in nature as possible.
