The Breast Centers at AdventHealth Hendersonville serve women who have discovered a breast lump, have an abnormal mammogram and patients who are at high risk of breast cancer.
Our program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons' National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). That means you’ll always have superior breast care delivered in a comforting, person or patient-focused environment. From screenings and advanced cancer treatments to surgical interventions, you will always be in the best care.

AdventHealth Hendersonville Cancer Services treats breast cancer in a multidisciplinary fashion. The highly-skilled team at our Breast Centers partners with medical oncology, radiation oncology, breast imaging, and pathology as part of an NAPBC program to offer the highest level of care.
Types of breast cancer that we treat include:
- Invasive (infiltrating) Ductal Carcinoma
- Invasive (infiltrating) Lobular Carcinoma
- Inflammatory Breast Cancer
- Ductal Carcinoma In Situ
- Paget’s Disease

Our dedicated Breast Cancer Nurse Navigators; guide patients through their cancer journey. They help patients overcome obstacles and provide emotional support. They assist patients with referrals to oncologists, hematologists, radiation oncologists, specialists, and subspecialists and often make referrals for financial counseling, nutrition and support groups.
Some resources available to our patients include:
- Dedicated breast cancer nurse navigator
- Support groups for patients, survivors, families and friends
- Nutritional counseling through a registered dietitian to discuss side effects of treatment such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting or weight gain
- Patient and family education at the on-site Resource Center
- Social work team
- Financial counseling
Know Your Risk for
Breast Cancer
Knowing your risk of breast cancer is important. If you are considered high risk, talk with your primary care provider about screenings and testing they may recommend for you.
Breast Cancer High Risk Factors Include:
- Inherited gene mutations associated with increased cancer risks such as BRCA1 and BRCA2
- Family history of breast, ovarian or pancreatic cancer or a family member diagnosed before age 50
- Chest radiation treatment before age 30
- Dense breast tissue
- Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia
- Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia
- Lobular Carcinoma In Situ
- Positive liquid biopsy for breast cancer

You’re not alone. A cancer support group offers the opportunity for you or your loved ones to share your journey and emotions with others who have traveled the same path.
Our support groups are a free resource to anyone in the community. If you are interested in joining one of our support groups, please reach out to the facilitator listed.
- Advanced Cancer Support Group

Through discussion and guided exercises, participants explore ways to cope with the challenges of living with advanced cancer and to continue to find meaning and hope. This group is professionally facilitated by a professional clinical oncology social worker and is open to people living with metastatic and/or advanced cancer, regardless of where they live or are receiving care. The program is free, but pre-registration and a telephone consultation with the facilitator is required before attending.
When: 1st Wednesday of each month, 1:00-2:00 pm

- Living Well and Breast Cancer Sisterhood Group

Meeting monthly, this group offers education and peer support for breast cancer patients and survivors at any stage, including post-treatment.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
The NAPBC is here to help your facility deliver high-quality care for breast disease that’s available today. We set standards, provide quality measures, offer participation in clinical trials, and more. That includes professional education and patient advocacy along with benchmark comparisons.
Commission on Cancer Accredited Program
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for patients with cancer by setting and raising standards. They promote cancer prevention, research, education, and monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
