NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., September 16, 2019 – AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach has selected Carla Johnson to serve as the director of nursing, effective Sept. 23.
In her new role, Johnson is responsible for collaborating with inpatient nurse managers at the 109-bed New Smyrna Beach hospital in order to achieve organizational goals and metrics related to standards of care, nursing recruitment and retention, patient experience, financial objectives and quality outcomes.
She has been with AdventHealth for 10 years and most recently served as director of nursing for Medicine and Oncology at AdventHealth Orlando. In this role she was responsible for the clinical operations of five medical inpatient units and three oncology inpatient units, overseeing nearly 300 inpatient beds and 600 full-time employees.
An Oviedo resident, Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of West Florida. In addition, she is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
