AdventHealth North Pinellas is the first and only hospital on Florida’s Gulf Coast to offer groundbreaking treatment for prostate conditions.

TAMPA, Fla., July 01, 2021 — (June 30, 2021) Tarpon Springs, Fla. - AdventHealth North Pinellas is the first and only hospital on the Gulf Coast of Florida to use an autonomous robotic tool that treats men with enlarged prostates, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Aquablation therapy, the minimally invasive FDA-approved procedure, is designed to improve the quality of life for men and reduce their risks of urinary tract complications. Nearly 40-million men in the United States have BPH, however, only 12 million get treated. If untreated, BPH can lead to significant health problems including, kidney damage, bladder stones, and urinary tract infections.

The Aquablation procedure takes about one hour and requires an overnight hospital stay. James Patchett was one of the first patients to be treated with the new therapy.
