- Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) Program
-
AdventHealth North Pinellas is participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) program. The program is a new payment model being tested for episodes of care related to total knee and total hip replacements under Medicare, with the goal of supporting better and more efficient care coordination for patients undergoing the most common inpatient surgeries.
The Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model continues to pay providers under existing payment systems, but holds hospitals responsible for the quality and costs from the initial procedure through 90 days after the patient is discharged. Through the CJR program, CMS expects improved coordination of care among hospitals, physicians and post-acute care providers – from surgery to recovery –to benefit patients and result in better outcomes and fewer complications. - Guiding Your Orthopedic Wellness With Education

Your hip and knees are in good hands here. Our skilled orthopedic surgeons use the latest robotic system, Mako™ robotic arm-assisted technology, to help you feel better faster.
By using advanced robotic technology for your hip or knee replacement, we can greatly reduce your pain, scarring, and recovery time, as compared to traditional joint replacement surgery.
Some benefits of robotic technology for knee surgery include:
- More precise resurfacing of only the arthritic portion of the knee
- Preservation of healthy knee tissue and bone
- Facilitation of optimal implant positioning to result in a more natural-feeling knee following surgery
- Quicker recovery and a shorter hospital stay compared to traditional total knee replacement surgery
Some benefits of robotic technology for total hip replacement include:
- Accurate placement of your hip implant using the surgeon-controlled robotic arm system, which can reduce the likelihood of hip dislocation
- More consistency in leg length, potentially decreasing the need for a shoe lift
- Decreased risk of the implant and bone abnormally rubbing together, which may improve the lifetime of the implant
We understand there’s a lot to consider when beginning treatment, but our physicians are here to talk you through the options and help determine if any of these procedures are right for you.

Advanced Orthopedic Care With Mako® Technology
Knee and hip pain can make even the most basic activities feel like a chore. What Is Robotic-Assisted Surgery?
You’re always looking for the best care. We’re always seeking ways to deliver it. Our orthopedic surgeons are constantly innovating to find the safest, most successful treatment plans. Robotic-arm assisted surgery allows your surgeon to remove only the diseased bone from your knee or hip, which means your healthy tissues are preserved. The robotic arm guides the surgeon to position your implant, providing extra precision and efficiency.
Robotic-arm assisted surgery also gives your surgeon the ability to plan your procedure ahead of time through a specific 3D model of your hip or knee.
