Since August 2024, 13 Board-certified primary care and specialty physicians have joined AdventHealth Medical Group practices across Johnson and Franklin counties.
Of the 13 physicians, seven are family physicians who provide primary care. Jill Spangler Whitesell, DO; Kayla Beashore, DO, MSBS; and Emily Vahrenberg, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Shawnee Mission. Christopher Moyer, DO, MHA, and Jessica Yoakam, MD, FAAFP, MSCP, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Prairie Star. Bridget Leinenbach, DO, MSBS, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at College Boulevard. Courtney Petz, MD, joined AdventHealth Primary Care Wellsville.
Two experienced, Board-certified cardiologists—Van L. Jones, DO, FACC, and James L. Marcum II, MD, FACC—joined Cardiology at College Boulevard and Cardiology at Ottawa, respectively.
Radiation oncologist Alexis Schutz, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Radiation Oncology at Shawnee Mission, part of the AdventHealth Cancer Institute.
Pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine physician John Paul "JP" Greenwood, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Pulmonology at South Overland Park.
Two experienced, Board-certified obstetrician/gynecologists joined practices in Merriam and Ottawa. Obstetrics hospitalist Angela Shaw, DO, FACOOG, joined AdventHealth Medical Group OB Hospitalists, located at the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Birth Center, and Bridget Abney, MD, FACOG, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Women’s Care at Ottawa.
In addition to the new physicians, AdventHealth Medical Group also welcomed eight new advanced practice providers this fall and winter. In primary care, Kellie Seefeldt, APRN, FNP-C, and Brecklyn Yocum, APRN, FNP-C, joined Primary Care at College Boulevard, and Macy Saunders, PA-C, joined Primary Care at Shawnee Mission. In specialty care, Allison Minyakov, APRN, AGACNP-C, joined the Cardiology & Cardiovascular Surgery team; Maeve Hodes, APRN, FNP-BC, AOCNP, joined Hematology Oncology; Jill Weller, DNP, APRN, ANP-BC, CCRN, joined Neurosurgery; and Sarah Darby, APRN, CNM, joined Maternal Fetal Medicine. In integrative medicine, Angela Katzer, APRN, NP-C, IFMCP, joined the Whole Health Institute.
These physicians and advanced practice providers are among more than 175 providers in AdventHealth Medical Group in the Kansas City area and more than 1,000 physicians on the AdventHealth medical staff across the region.
