About Michèle Jean-François
As the Chief Medical Officer at AdventHealth South Overland Park, Michèle Jean-François, MD, oversees clinical operations, leads the medical staff and ensures the physician viewpoint is represented in all tactical planning. Dr. Jean-François is board-certified in internal and obesity medicine and has worked at AdventHealth since 2013. She began her career with AdventHealth as a hospitalist and internal medicine physician at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. She joined AdventHealth South Overland Park in October 2021 as the Medical Director of Hospitalist Services, where she held responsibilities in patient care, recruiting, interviewing, training and supervising hospitalists and nurse practitioners. She has been instrumental to AdventHealth, lending her expertise to various medical and leadership committees.
Dr. Jean-François, fluent in Creole and French and conversational in Spanish, received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
As an internist, Dr. Jean-François believes optimal patient care is achieved when the whole person is considered, not just one isolated health condition. She believes that care should be comprehensive, patient-centered and evidence-based. She is passionate about educating patients and empowering them to make the changes necessary to live healthier lives. Her views fit well with the AdventHealth ideologies of unparalleled, compassionate and whole-patient care.
Outside of work, Dr. Jean-François enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures. A true gastronome, she likes hosting gourmet dinner parties followed by a game of dominoes. Her other hobbies include fine arts, performing arts, culinary arts, reading, playing the piano and dancing.
