The American Hospital Association’s Center for Health Innovation recently highlighted gastroenterologist Kamibiz Kadkhodayan, MD and his team at AdventHealth’s Center for Interventional Endoscopy.
Dr. Kadkhodayan was the first in the world to develop and perform a brand-new procedure, endoscopic blind limb reduction with septotomy — dubbed the “candy cane” procedure — which allowed a gastric bypass patient who could only receive intermittent nourishment through an IV to eat solid food again.

Another One for Ozempic? Investigator Recounts Trial for Chronic Kidney Disease
July 29, 2024
Richard Pratley, MD, senior investigator, AdventHealth Translational Research Institute, is the senior author on a recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine that explores the benefits of Ozempic in Type 2 diabetes patients with chronic kidney disease. The Phase 3 study, called FLOW, evaluated the efficacy and safety of Ozempic in people with T2D and chronic kidney disease in preventing kidney failure, substantial loss of kidney function, and death from kidney or cardiovascular causes. Results indicate that the drug “reduced the risk of clinically important kidney outcomes and death from cardiovascular causes.”
