Program Overview
Residents who complete the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at AdventHealth Kissimmee will emerge as a wholistic pharmacists capable of working in both operational and clinical roles.
The pharmacy residency year will be composed of a mix of longitudinal, core, and elective rotation experiences. We aim to create new opportunities for residents to be involved in leadership and committee work alongside pharmacy and hospital leaders. The close-knit community at our campus will provide you the unique experience of seeing first-hand how pharmacists are a vital aspect of patient care and medication safety.General Information:
- Two, full time 52-weeks position available
- Application deadline: January 3rd
- Expected start date: Early July
- Interview required
- Weekend staffing (approximately every third) and evening staffing
- Estimated annual stipend: $54,371 + conference and travel support, uniform stipend
- 12 months immediate health insurance

Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Eligibility for Florida licensure
- Participation in the National Matching Services

Learning Experiences
All residents will begin the year with a 2-week orientation led by AdventHealth system followed by a 3-week introduction to general medicine rotation that will primarily take place at AdventHealth Kissimmee. During this time, residents will also complete their ACLS/PALS certification and are encouraged to obtain licensure.
Following the initial 5-week orientation and introduction, learning experience rotations are 5 weeks in length, except the December and February Rotations which are 6 weeks in length to account for conference time. Longitudinal experiences will be 6-12 months in length.Core (Required) Learning Experiences:

- Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infectious Disease

*Off-site electives subject to preceptor availability. Electives not listed here may be arranged based on preceptor availability and resident interest.
- Longitudinal Requirements

Required Longitudinal Learning Experiences:
- 1 Medication use evaluation (MUE) or Clinical Practice Evaluation (CPE)
- 1 Medication safety quality improvement project
- 1 Hour continuing education (CE) presentation
Research
- Institutional review board and Office of Research Administration approval
- External presentation of the project or submission for presentation at a local, state, or national meeting
- Journal worthy peer review manuscript of the project submitted by the end of residency
Hospital Service
- Code response
- Department staffing
Leadership and Management
- Participation will also be expected in the following: Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Formulary Subcommittee, Medication Safety Committee, performance improvement projects, and student/employee teaching.
