Colorectal Disease
Colorectal disease refers to a wide range of conditions that vary in severity. Colorectal cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis and hemorrhoids all fall under this category. Common symptoms of colorectal disease include pain in the abdomen, bloody stools, changes in bowel habits, anemia and fatigue, and unexplained weight loss. Treatment will depend on the type of colorectal disease, its location and its severity. If a malignancy is detected, then surgery may be required to remove the cancer before proceeding with chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. Other treatments may include medication and lifestyle adjustments to relieve symptoms and prevent further damage.
