Spine and Spinal Cord Injuries

Our neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons provide advanced evaluation and care for patients with all types of spine and spinal cord injuries. Whether due to direct trauma or a disease process impacting surrounding structures, such injuries have the potential to cause long-term disability and may require surgical repair when physical therapy, pain management injections and other, less-invasive therapies are not appropriate or fail to achieve symptom relief. Minor spinal injuries occur when an underlying disease such as RA or osteoporosis causes a weakening of the vertebrae or when the spinal canal becomes narrowed in a condition known as spinal stenosis. More serious spinal injuries occur when the spinal cord is compressed, pushed to one side or pulled, as is often the case in traffic accidents.
