Getting physical therapy at the first sign of pain or discomfort can save you time and money in the long run. Read how we can help at AdventHealth Sports Med and Rehab.

At AdventHealth Sports Med and Rehab, physical therapy (PT) is here, right when you need it. Whether you have a sore muscle, sports injury or a sprained ankle, we can help you feel better faster while saving time and money — with no physician referral necessary.

Since Florida is a direct-access state, you can seek PT treatment for non-serious or recurring injuries without going to your doctor first.

“What could have turned into a lengthy process can now be taken care of quickly and efficiently, getting you on the road to recovery faster,” explains Jason Cirolia, the compliance education manager for AdventHealth Sports Med and Rehab.

How Physical Therapy Can Help

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or marathon runner, AdventHealth Sports Med and Rehab can get you back in the game quickly. To ensure quality care, our direct-access physical therapists undergo additional training and testing. And we’re also actively involved in research on major topics in sports medicine, including lumbar and cervical pain, to help improve patient outcomes.

We can help alleviate all kinds of nonemergent muscle and joint problems, ranging from sports injuries to back pain. If you’re experiencing any kind of sprain, strain, ache or pain, physical therapy can help. Don’t wait for your injury to get worse.

Our physical therapists perform a full musculoskeletal evaluation to determine the correct treatment for your injury. These specialized tests — which consider medical history, how the injury occurred and how the tissue is healing — are used to find the root cause of the problem.

Then, a care plan is created to address your specific recovery needs. “Usually, the earlier a patient receives therapy, the faster their treatment goes,” says Cirolia.

Possible physical therapy treatments can include:

  • Joint mobilization
  • Manual therapy
  • Movement assessment
  • Pain-relief techniques
  • Specific stretching
  • Therapy for strengthening

What We Treat

Getting physical therapy at the first sign of pain or discomfort can save you time and money by avoiding the need for medical imaging and appointments with other medical specialists. If your injury or issue doesn’t require an emergency room visit, try direct access to physical therapy for relief.

We treat new and returning physical therapy patients who are struggling with:

  • Back pain
  • Muscle or joint pain
  • Neck pain
  • Pelvic pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Sprains, strains, aches or pains

Preparing for Your Appointment

When it comes time for your PT appointment, wear clothing that will allow the therapist to see the area of concern, and that will enable you to move through a full range of motion so your therapist can evaluate your injury accurately. Additionally, please bring shoes that you would use for exercise. Please call us to verify if your insurance is accepted for direct access.
