Betsy Hughes Volunteer of the Month

Betsy and her husband Jon currently own Track Shack, one of the largest running stores in the Southeast and consistently ranked among the Top 50 running stores in the United States. In addition to their success, Betsy and Jon have given back to their community through Track Shack. Track Shack’s sister company, Track Shack Events, hosts some of the region’s most prestigious events. Also, Track Shack Youth Foundation focuses on supporting youth athletics/health and fitness.

Track Shack Events has partnered with AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida for several years. It’s because of this organization that the Foundation is able to raise funds through Track Shack’s incredible events to support important causes such as AdventHealth Breast Cancer Care Fund.

“Being a part of Central Florida and knowing that AdventHealth Foundation gives back to this amazing community makes it that much more important to give from our hearts," said Betsy.

Every year, Track Shack hosts a Ladies Night where they work closely with AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida to bring in doctors that specialize in breast cancer to speak to over 200 women. They also host the annual Lady Track Shack 5k to help raise money for the AdventHealth Breast Cancer Care Fund.

2020 in particular, Betsy and Jon had an amazing opportunity to work with AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida by donating over 400 new pairs of shoes to COVID-19 frontline health care workers! It was an emotional, yet inspiring experience for Betsy and Jon.

“It was great to give back to the community, knowing that these shoes would be going to frontline workers who may not be able to have the means to have new shoes.”

Betsy met her husband Jon through running, and both enjoy sharing their love of the sport with their love of the sport with the community. Having completed marathons around the world and inducted into the Running Event Hall of Fame (2008), they are focused on great events and great service in all aspects of their business.

We are so thankful to Betsy and Jon for their tremendous work within our community!
