March 2021 | Dr. Andy Taussig
AdventHealth Foundation Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute Physician Champion

AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida is spotlighting Dr. Andrew Taussig for March’s Volunteer of the Month in recognition of National Doctors’ Day and the excellent care he provides. Many of his patients have expressed their gratitude to the Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute (CVI) for their life saving treatment by giving significant philanthropic gifts. Dr. Taussig is the Director of Invasive Cardiac Services for CVI and is a key member of the Structural Heart and TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Value Replacement) clinical team.

Dr. Taussig has been with AdventHealth Central Florida for over 37 years. During Dr. Taussig’s second year with the hospital, Dr. Donald Fraser explained that The Foundation does great things within the community and encouraged Dr. Taussig to get involved.

Dr. Taussig understands that philanthropy improves patient care and closes the gap of unmet needs, especially at a time when hospital funds are necessary due to COVID-19. The act of giving for patients can be part of the healing process and is often an important part of the Whole Person healthcare journey.

“We need the support and help of our patients and community members because that is the cornerstone of our Foundation.”

Dr. Taussig’s proactive approach to helping patients express their appreciation to their care team has led to two noteworthy gifts to the Foundation that will help grow and expand the Structural Heart and TAVR Program. In 2019, a patient couple contributed one million dollars to help build a future Structure Heart hybrid procedure room and this past year, another grateful couple made a $100,000 gift to fund an additional TAVR program nurse navigator.

“I want the best healthcare for our community, and AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida has allowed us to be on the cutting-edge of patient care.”

Dr. Taussig is triple-board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. A recognized leader in his field, he has more than three decades of experience providing advanced cardiology evaluation and treatments here in Central Florida. AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida wants to thank Dr. Taussig for all that he does for our patients and continuing to improve the health of our community!

Dr. Taussig earned his medical degree and completed his internship and internal medicine and cardiology residencies at Emory University and its affiliated hospitals, capping his tenure there as Chief Resident and Fellow of Cardiology. He completed his radiology residency at New York University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography & Intervention.
