AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida is honored to recognize Dr. John Monson as our March 2023 Volunteer of the Month. As a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon and active board member with AdventHealth Cancer Institute, he has made a tremendous impact on cancer research and patients’ lives.
Throughout his career, Dr. Monson performed over 10,000 resections for colorectal cancer. His research encompasses a broad range of cancer related areas, including the development of national standards and qualitative assessments of decision-making in cancer care.
He and his son, Sam, recently journeyed across the country in their 1962 Jaguar to raise awareness and funding to support cancer research for AdventHealth Cancer Institute. Gifts raised for each mile they completed increased access to clinical trials and supported those impacted by cancer.
