When a child is hospitalized, a family’s world stops. Many parents must make the tough choice between staying at their child’s bedside, or working to keep the bills paid. There’s nothing sadder than a sick child alone in a hospital room due to a family’s financial burdens.

Last year, in partnership with iHeart Media’s Magic 107.7, AdventHealth for Children’s Day of Giving rallied our community to support families with sick children in our hospitals. Gifts paid for daily expenses (gas, electric bills, groceries) for families with sick children. There are many incredible individuals who helped make this event a success, including our July Volunteer of the Month, Dr. Michael Keating.

Dr. Michael Keating

Dr. Keating is the Chief Medical Officer of AdventHealth Children’s Hospital. He has been Director of the Division of Pediatric Urology since 2010. He completed his general urology training at Massachusetts General Hospital and followed this with fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is an internationally recognized expert in his field. He has written more than 100 manuscripts and chapters in peer-reviewed journals, as well as widely used textbooks. After more than twenty-five years in Orlando, Dr. Keating has established one of Central Florida’s best-known pediatric subspecialty practices. His tenure with AdventHealth for Children has allowed for continued growth and consistently high levels of patient satisfaction achieved by the division of pediatric urology.

Dr. Keating was instrumental in the success of AdventHealth for Children’s Day of Giving by engaging physicians and nursing leadership to help promote the event. Dr. Keating made his own personal gift, and through his efforts, AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida was able to secure new major donors.

When asked about why he is so passionate about AdventHealth for Children’s Day of Giving, Dr. Keating shared, “I firmly believe that giving back to our community speaks volumes of what our mission at AdventHealth is really about.”

AdventHealth Foundation Central Florida is grateful to Dr. Keating who exemplifies our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
