When you’re under pressure, it can be hard to think clearly. Broken bones, painful burns, a tightening throat, and other emergency symptoms can catch you off-guard. It’s natural to feel shaken, but when you don’t know what to do, turn it over to someone who does.
If you find yourself in a situation where you or a loved one is suffering from signs of stroke; trouble breathing; sudden, intense pain; broken bones; or a severe allergic reaction, err on the side of caution. Call 911 immediately or head to the nearest emergency room if you experience any of the following:- Fractures
- Deep Wounds
- Difficulty Breathing
- Major Head Injury
- Poisoning
- Severe Allergic Reactions
- Severe Burns
- Suspected Heart Attack
- Suspected Stroke
- Vomiting or Coughing Up Blood
In the hands of a caring, highly skilled ER team, you can start finding the relief you need.
What to Expect When You Visit Your Closest ER
We know this can be a confusing time for you, and we’ll answer each and every one of your questions. It’s what we’re here for — providing care and knowledge so you can heal in body, mind, and spirit. Because we want to treat you in the safest, fastest way possible, the ER team at AdventHealth Fish Memorial, formerly Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, will also have a few questions of their own. To start off, our highly trained emergency room team will ask for basic things like your medical history and the reason for your visit. After we learn this information and take your vital signs, we’ll help you find relief in the safest, fastest way possible.
Since emergencies are so unpredictable, it’s a good idea to keep certain information with you wherever you go. Consider carrying an information card in your wallet or purse, including things on it like the name and number of your primary care physician, a list of medications you take and any drug allergies you have, and advance directives like health care proxy or power of attorney. The more information we have, the better we can serve.Through a process known as triage, we'll assess your needs and see those with more serious emergencies, like a stroke or heart attack, first. But you can trust that we’re fully committed to your care and will do all we can to bring you timely, compassionate emergency room care.
