At AdventHealth Medical Group Urology at Calhoun, director of robotic surgery and urology Hak Lee, MD, isn’t the only reason the clinic stands out to patients. It’s also the team that stands behind him who make AdventHealth Medical Group Urology a special place.
In addition to Dr. Lee, AdventHealth Medical Group Urology’s team consists of Pam Stanley, front office assistant; Sydney Silvers, front office assistant; Maria Patterson, practice manager; Dawn Culpepper, certified medical assistant; Ashley Gambino, certified medical assistant; Ashley Phillips, certified medical assistant; Alicia Reynolds, licensed practical nurse; Joanne Hooks, FNP-BC; and Seth Van Dyke, FNP-C. In addition, Sharon Bass, robotic clinical coordinator, works with the practice’s robotic surgery patients. Each team member plays an important role in helping patients feel whole. The clinic treats everyone like family.
“From the first day someone visits our clinic, they have our entire team to help guide them through their journey as a patient,” said Dr. Lee. “Each team member is dedicated to providing exceptional care.”
Rebecca Lee, a regular patient at AdventHealth Medical Group Urology, visits the clinic every three weeks due to urological issues related to multiple sclerosis (MS). After living with MS for nearly 30 years, Lee has visited many different health care facilities, but she says none can compare to Dr. Lee and his team.
“Each person in the clinic is so precious and sweet,” said Lee. “They are so attentive and make you feel like you are the only patient they have. I’ve never had a doctor and care team that has shown me as much kindness as Dr. Lee and his team have.”
Lee says Alicia Reynolds and Dawn Culpepper are two team members who are always there for her. Whatever she may need, she knows she can call on either of them for help.
“Alicia and Dawn are both very special people to me,” said Lee. “They are so caring and treat me like family. Anytime I need anything at all, I know I can call either of them. They never hesitate to help me.”
Hugh West is a prostate cancer survivor and visits AdventHealth Medical Group Urology every six months. He says that every interaction he has had with their team has been a positive one.
“Everyone on their team is very nice,” said West. “Each person always bends over backwards for me.”
West remembers one instance when he was very ill with urinary issues. He visited AdventHealth Medical Group Urology without an appointment, but their team immediately fit him in to see Dr. Lee and take care of the problem.
“I told them I had a problem and that I needed to see Dr. Lee,” said West. “His team carried me right in without an appointment. I know other clinics would tell me that I would have to come back another day, but they always help me no matter what.”
The caring and approachable team at AdventHealth Medical Group Urology have created a space that makes patients feel welcome and at ease right away. Dr. Lee believes this is what sets them apart and is what makes them a very special team.
“Providing proper diagnoses and treatment options for patients is only part of our jobs as health care professionals,” said Dr. Lee. “To deliver true whole-person care, treating patients with compassion and respect is just as important. I believe our team strives for this every day.”
