Birthdays and Christmas morning are two mornings often anticipated by children, bringing excitement through one thing: gifts. Bailey Coker, a 10-year-old Calhoun Elementary School student, donated her birthday gifts to other children through the Gordon EMS Make a Kid Smile Toy Drive for a second year.

She enjoyed it so much last year and insisted on doing it again this year, said Brandi Coker, Baileys mother and hospitalist office coordinator at Gordon Hospital. She loves contributing to the kids in our community having gifts on Christmas morning.

Gordon EMS is really appreciative of the donation from Bailey as those toys will go to help many kids on Christmas morning, said Courtney Taylor, director of Gordon EMS. This donation is also much more than just toys. It is wonderful to see a child so unselfish and to want to help others by giving away her birthday presents. She is truly an example of selflessness.

Brandi and her husband, Bobby, are proud of Bailey for her kind action. She has such a loving and caring heart and is always thinking of others, said Brandi. We are blessed that she chooses to give rather than receive on her special day.

Thank you to Gordon EMS for giving back to our community during this time of year. We also want to say thank you to all of Baileys friends and family that came to her party and donated, said Brandi.
